Why Do Charter Schools Close?
Both nationally and in California, the primary reason for charter closure is financial. Grassroots, independent charters often do not possess the experience or support needed to ensure fiscal solvency. A charter school principal has the same responsibilities as a district superintendent. They have to deal with not only the educational issues, but also the entire administrative functions of the charter. This is incredibly challenging because most administrators come into the charter world from the educational side of the house. Often, they have not yet worked in a business office setting prior to their tenure as a charter administrator.
Our Model is Unique
At California School Fiscal Services, we want your business...but we also want to help you move toward increased autonomy. We believe that charter schools are stronger when their educational and business office are united under one "roof". We can provide your fiscal services while simultaneously training your staff to manage the day to day operations of the business office. We will set up your own financial system, train your staff, and support your organization until you are ready to do it on your own. Even if your staff can only assume a small portion of your back office duties, your school will benefit greatly.
Most importantly, even when you are ready to stand on your own, we are always here to support your school.
